In 2013, our family decided to move from PE to Somerset West, into an old house that we were planning to renovate.
We already loved the Scandinavian-style at the time and took on the challenge of transforming our home interior into an all-white, minimal, Scandi-inspired space. We sold nearly all of our furniture and tried to source new pieces that would suit this style.
When we couldn’t find everything we wanted, we started designing and making our own items, such as trestle desks, triangular lamps, pallet coffee tables and scatter cushions.
Soon we realised that others may also appreciate our products, so an online store was set up and we started trading from there.
Today, we are a family business – most of us involved full-time, and all of our products are styled and photographed in our home in Somerset West.
Because we started off making items for our own home, we have learned how to design products that are functional and useful – and we still keep this in mind when we come up with new product designs.
Most of our products are made individually (many of them by hand) and we would like to keep it that way for as long as we can. We make use of techniques such as hand-printing, hand-stitching and traditional basket weaving – to name a few.
We only make use of local suppliers for our products and raw materials, so by purchasing one of our products, you are supporting South African design and small local businesses.
